ASTRO announces launch of Advancements in Radiation Oncology journal The American Society for Radiation Oncology is very happy to announce the launch of its new open-access journal, Advancements in Radiation Oncology, and selecting its Founding Editor, Robert C. Miller, MD, MBA . Advances will begin accepting manuscripts by the ultimate end of the summertime with studies to be published by late 2015. Miller is Professor of Radiation Oncology at Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, Fla.; Medical Director of Mayo Clinic Operations in Northfield, Minn.; and Vice Seat of the Board of Trustees for Mayo Clinic Health System Albert Lea-Austin.

The contract extends the original charter founded when the ASMBS founded SRC in 2003 as an independent nonprofit to build up and manage the program. The companies launched the BSCOE program in 2004, and it is now the world’s largest center of excellence program for the specialty. A lot more than 700 surgeons and 400 facilities have achieved designation, and yet another 300 surgeons and 150 facilities have been accepted for provisional position.
