AACN Impact Research Grants support scientific inquiry that drives change in high acuity and essential treatment nursing practice. Priority projects address gaps in medical research at the organization or system level and translation of these results to bedside clinicians. Projects include use of technology to assess patients and manage outcomes; methods to create a healing and humane environment; and processes and systems to optimize high acuity and essential care nursing.Between 1979 and 1986, 318 patients were randomly assigned to get no radiation therapy or even to receive radiation.
